CURRENT MINI-GRANT RECIPIENTS

The following are deadlines for grant reimbursements:

• All invoices for goods received or services performed on or prior to June 30th, must be received by Cesi Velez, Project Manager, by July 20th.
• Invoices for goods received or services performed between July 1st and September 30th, must be received by Cesi Velez, Project Manager, no later than October 20th.

FISCAL YEAR 2023 MINI GRANT PROGRAM

The official grant announcement will be shared in August. There will continue to be two opportunities; hosting a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) course and/or supporting local child passenger safety activities. Everyone is encouraged to conduct outreach to our most underserved populations by considering outreach to ECEAP and Headstart programs, local public housing sites supported by Housing and Urban Development (HUD), or schools having high free or reduced lunch program use. Active participation of the National Digital Check Form will be required of mini-grant recipients.

NATIONAL DIGITAL CHECK FORM (NDCF)

Thank you for those assisting with the distribution of the tablets in your regions and being diligent on filling out the tracking spreadsheet. It is important to keep the inventory spreadsheet up to date and record any changes. It is a requirement from the funding source to provide a tracking update on a yearly basis.

Washington will have 100% use of the NDCF beginning October 1^st. For this reason, using the NDCF and becoming familiar with it is very important. By now you should all have set up a NDCF user account and be using the print out of the NDCF if not using the tablet for direct entry during a car seat check. This transition is a learning process for all involved. I appreciate your patience and willingness to adapt in this changing environment.

If you weren’t able to attend the training sessions, I hope to share the recording links very soon. QUARTERLY REPORTS

The next two quarters’ report will be dependent on whether you are using the NDCF program. Continue to turn in activity reports if you are NOT using the NDCF.

Be sure to complete your quarterly activity report and send to your local communications lead for your region. Use the tracking report attached and destroy prior versions. The report due dates are:

LIFESAVERS 2023

Remember to mark your calendars for the upcoming Lifesavers conference; being held in Seattle April 2 – 4, 2023. https://lifesaversconference.org/ Speaker proposals are currently being accepted. Submit your ideas for consideration and let me know if there are projects or topics you would like to see on the workshop agenda. My plan is to assist with attendance costs for as many active technicians as possible. More information as the process for applying is developed.

CEU OPPORTUNITY

Registration is open for an all virtual Child Passenger Safety Conference offered by Oregon. This two-day conference is brought to you through a partnership with The Oregon Department of Transportation and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Enjoy guest speakers from various car seat manufacturers as we hear about what new products are on the market! Learn about creative energy management devices on car seats and see how they work.  See behind-the-scenes info on product development and learn what it takes to certify car seats. Examine new and innovative technician resources such as the National Digital Car Seat Check form! These sessions will provide CEU credit to current Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors.
