BUCKLE UP, WASHINGTON

*Data collected between 2012-2014
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
94.6% of Washington drivers buckled up in 2015. But there’s still room for improvement – let’s get to 100% Washington.
ALL PASSENGERS, ALL THE TIME
If you’re driving and have passengers in your car, make sure everyone in the car is buckled up before you even start the car. As the driver, you have the ability to keep people in the car safe.
KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE
Children rely on the adults to make sure they ride safe in the car. Always read the manufacturer instructions for the child restraint and the vehicle to ensure proper use and installation. Washington has a network of car seat technicians that can help ensure your child rides safely. Click here to find someone near you.
TRAFFIC SAFETY — TRIBAL COMMUNITIES
In Washington, the traffic fatality rate for Native Americans is 3.5 times higher than for everyone else. Lack of seat belt use is the number one contributing factor to Native American traffic deaths. Part of the Target Zero plan is to work with Tribal governments to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries for Native Americans. Tribes play a vital role in increasing traffic safety on Washington roads.
