Law enforcement officers from every agency in the Wenatchee Valley and members of the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department (WVFD) held a free car seat and water safety clinic to reach the Hispanic community. Certified car seat technicians were available to ensure families knew how to install and use car seats correctly. Five car seats were supplied to children. WVFD provided information on water safety and distributed over 75 life jackets to local families while the Chelan/Douglas Health District was on hand to provide summer safety tips for kids. To better serve the Hispanic community, Spanish-speaking officers were available so that all attendees could receive important safety messaging and equipment.
A big shout out to the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee Police Department, Wenatchee Valley Fire Department, Chelan and Douglas County Sheriff’s Offices and Washington State Patrol from Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas and Okanogan Counties for their support and for making the event a success!
This was WSP Wenatchee’s first attempt to provide this service specifically to the Hispanic Community while partnering with other agencies and it was a success with 20 inspections performed.
